The Rosenows have, so far, written two books. The first book, Swaying in the Treetops, was published in late 2015. It tells the story of how they ended up on this journey of adoption, and how that journey led to the establishing of The Shepherd’s Crook Orphan Ministry. Their second book, Through the Branches, was published in the fall of 2018. It is a collection of vignettes that provide a glimpse of daily life in their home. You can order signed copies of either book or both books, below. All proceeds go to The Shepherd’s Crook Orphan Ministry.

About the Book

This is the story of how two people began a typical American family and then found themselves unexpectedly traveling down a road not many others travel, climbing the tree God asks all of us to climb—the tree of faith. This book chronicles many of their nineteen adoptions, but it is really a story for anyone interested in seeking to serve God fully and faithfully, embracing the indescribable joy that can be found only by following His path—whether through adoption or some other means—and seeing God’s trustworthiness played out in very practical and tangible ways.

What Others Are Saying

“When Christians seek out and care for the orphan in distress, it makes the Gospel vibrantly visible in both its beauty and its costliness. Nowhere is that more true than with the Rosenow family. Their story weaves an unforgettable journey of faithfulness to God, and along the way reveals God’s heart in actions that glow brighter than words alone ever could.”

—Jedd Medefind
President, Christian Alliance for Orphans

“An amazing true story of God at work in the lives of an everyday couple as they wrestle with faith, sacrifice, hardship, and triumph while living out the unbelievable call of God on their lives. A captivating book that will be hard to put down.”

—Bruce Carroll
Christian Recording Artist

The Companion Book Is Now Available!

Through the Branches is a companion volume to the authors’ previous book, Swaying in the Treetops. In this book, readers are invited to peek into the Rosenow home, as the authors provide a glimpse of everyday life through stories, vignettes, and anecdotes gleaned from parenting this large and unusual family. Some of these stories will make you smile, while others bring a tear to your eye, and still others make you cheer, either out loud or just inside your heart. From the authors: “Most of all, we hope that some of these little nuggets of family life will encourage your heart in some way and inspire you as you walk your own path, face your own challenges, weep over your own sorrows, celebrate your own victories.”

From the Publisher’s Diagnostic Review

“As a companion to their first book, Swaying in the Treetops, the authors share a collection of vignettes that offer an inspiring and entertaining look into the daily life of their large family. With both biological and adopted children, the authors use their real-life stories to encourage other parents and families to embrace the wonder of family relationships. The book is written eloquently and fluently, clearly expressing the story of a unique family and the daily happenings in their life. The writing is easy to understand, detailed, and beautifully written, showing the wonders of life in their family. The authors have portrayed valuable personal experiences, with humility and authenticity, that show true vulnerability that can greatly impact the reader. Many books about family life try to make everything seem perfect, but this book shows the reality of family life, with its challenges and victories, and reveals the beauty of genuine storytelling in family relationships.”
